Salesforce, and whether you are the company it was built for

Salesforce is the enterprise standard and nothing else matches its scale, its integrations or its reporting. For the right company that is worth every dollar. For an owner-operated business in Lee or Collier, it usually means an admin you cannot afford, features you never open, and a licence bill that grows every year.

Answered personally, usually the same day. If a CRM is not what you need, I will say so.

  • I have worked inside Salesforce for clients and moved businesses off it. My own companies do not run on it, because none of them are the size it was built for.
  • Scoped in writing, priced before work starts
  • Your account, your data, documented as it is built
  • Not affiliated with Salesforce. No resale, no commission.

What Salesforce is good at

First

Scale. Hundreds or thousands of users across divisions and regions.

Second

Integrations. The largest ecosystem in the industry. If a system exists, it connects.

Third

Reporting and governance. Anything can be reported on, by anyone with the training.

Where it is the wrong tool

A business with a sales team you can name from memory. The setup cost, the admin overhead and the licence structure are all designed for a company several sizes larger.

Who should pick it

Private-equity-backed platforms rolling up companies, businesses with a real sales organisation, and anything with complex products and multiple divisions.

What a Salesforce setup covers

On Salesforce I scope carefully and often recommend a certified implementation partner for the heavy lifting, while I own the process design and the data. If the honest answer is that you should leave Salesforce, I say so on the first call and scope the migration instead.

Asked about Salesforce

We inherited Salesforce from a previous owner. Keep it?
If the licence and admin cost is out of proportion to the sales team, no. Leaving Salesforce is the biggest migration of any CRM, so it is worth doing once and properly, after a data read of what you actually use.
Is Salesforce Essentials or Starter different?
The small-business editions are simpler and cheaper, and they can fit a growing company that expects to need the full platform later. If you do not expect that, a tool built for small business will do the same job with less overhead.
Do you implement Salesforce yourself?
For a small deployment, yes. For anything with custom objects, multiple clouds or an existing partner, I design the process and the data and work alongside a certified partner, and I say which on the first call.

Tell me what is in the way.

One form. Read by the person who would do the work. If a CRM is not the answer, you will hear that first.
